Cumin is a seed with a bitter taste that is an integral part to most Middle Eastern cuisines. Cumin is derived from the dried seeds of the herb Cuminum cyminum, belonging to the parsley family. The cumin plant reaches a height of 30–50 cm (12–20 in) and is carefully harvested by hand.
