Description: Large trees, up to 20 m tall. Leaves elliptic-lanceolate, up to 21 x 6.5 cm, cuneate at base, acuminate at apex, fulvous pubescent beneath. Inflorescence of subracemose umbels. Flowers unisexual. Perianth 6-lobed, yellow; lobes ovate or oblong. There are 9 stamens arranged in 3 whorls. The berry is globose, approximately 7 mm across, and positioned on the perianth tube.
Flowering: September – March.
Distribution: India: In evergreen and semi-evergreen forests across the Western Ghats. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Endemic.
