Certified organic food is produced on farms according to the National Organic Program (NOP) standards established by the Unites States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The NOP defines strict guidelines for all phases of organic food production, from growing to processing to handling. Annual inspections by a USDA approved, third-party certifier ensure that the certified organic farm is following all of the rules necessary to meet or exceed the USDA’s organic standards.
