Moongil uppu is an extract obtained from Indian Bamboo mixed along with piper longum, cardamom, clove and jaggery. It is a Aphrodosiac, tonic, Expectorant. English: Bamboo salt; Tamil : Moongil uppu; Sinhala : Una kapuru; Tibbi : Tabashir ; Arabic : Tabashir; Sanskrit : Bansarochana, Vanshalochana, Vamsarocana, Bangsolochan ; Other synonyms: Subha, Subhra, Tuga, Tugaksiri, Tvakaksiri, Vaisnavi, Vamsaja, Vamsaksiri, Vamsi . Uses: It is useful in the management of ailments such as hyperdipsia, diarrhoea,vomiting, heart diseases, cough, asthma, jaundice, fever, tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, lung cavities, bronchitis, leprosy, paralytic complaints, anaemia, emaciation and as a general tonic in convalescents.
