Botanical Name: Dipteryx odorata
Tonka Bean essential oil is extracted from the Tonka tree, a native species found in South America and West Africa. The beans undergo a harvesting process followed by drying, after which they are soaked to produce the coumarin formulation on the exterior. The beneficial component of the bean, coumarin, is thus derived through this method.
