Uva-ursi is a petite, prostrate woody groundcover shrub that reaches a height of 5–30 centimeters (2–12 inches). In its natural habitat, the species forms dense stands, and rarely exceeds a height of 15 cm (6 in). The plant features erect branching twigs that emerge from long, flexible prostrate stems, all originating from single roots.
