Other name: colic root, American yam, fourleaf yam, and devil’s bones
The white yam tuber exhibits a roughly cylindrical shape with smooth, brown skin, and its flesh is typically firm and white. In contrast, the yellow yam features yellow flesh due to the presence of carotenoids. While its outer appearance closely resembles that of the white yam, the yellow yam’s tuber skin is generally a bit firmer and has fewer extensive grooves.
